Tourists leave Oudtshoorn with more than just a scenic experience. Willie and Louise Swift, owners of Karoo-Palet Guest House, make sure that the town's most welknown resident accompany tourists home. Guests from South Africa, Australia, Egypt, Germany and the UK already adopted a "Vollie". Once the guest return to their home, they take a photo of "Vollie" in his new town and send it to the Swifts along with the traveling distance. The Swifts then add it to their world map in the Guest House.
"Vollie's" adventure is not only for pleasure. For every kilometer he completes, a donation is contributed to the Oudtshoorn Animal Welfare by the Swifts.
